Become a Working Wednesday Volunteer
If you’re looking to make a difference for nature and have availability on a Wednesday this is the role for you.
Conservation and habitat management form a core part of the Countryside Team’s work, and we rely on the support of our incredible volunteers to help care for our nature reserves across East Devon.
With a mix of long-established and newly acquired sites throughout the district, there’s always plenty to do. To meet the growing need, our Nature Reserve Ranger, Ben has launched a new hands-on volunteer group meeting every Wednesday.
What you’ll do:
- Habitat creation and management
- Infrastructure installation and maintenance
- Charcoal and firewood production and processing
- Vegetation clearance
- Plus lots more!
What We’re Looking For:
- No previous experience is necessary
- Volunteers should have an interest in supporting conservation efforts
- A good level of general fitness
- An interest in being outdoors in all weathers
Why Volunteer with Us?
- Flexible Shifts: Join us every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm - pick the sessions that fit your schedule.
- Team Support: You’ll volunteer as part of a group under the guidance of the Countryside Ranger. Volunteers have the chance to get together at our popular volunteer socials.
- Training Provided: Volunteers are provided with an induction and are offered training throughout the year. A fleece, polo shirt, and all necessary PPE is provided.
- Make a Difference: Play a vital role in protecting East Devon’s landscapes.
